2/6/99 -- Well, things are continuing to progress... This week's
bible study was (as I mentioned below) unusual because it was mostly
a meeting with lead pastor of our church (New
Vision Community Church) about the church's on-line presence, but
we also talked briefly about what we were doing with Campus Crusade.
There's an article in the church newsletter this month about our CCC@RIT
group. It's supposed to be put on-line at some point... When it is,
I'll point you there. Also, it looks like some of the guys might be
more involved with the music at the church as well. Some opportunities
are opening for them there.
Also, some of us went to InterVarsity
on Friday evening this week. It was an unusual evening because they
were doing a special simulation of discrimination through a game of
Jeopardy. Myself and Leroy were on the "oppressed" Red team
while Brian and Frank were on the "favored" Yellow team. Unfortunately
it didn't give us a very good taste of what a "normal" IV
meeting was like, so we'll probably go back again and check it out.
It was a little difficult to meet people there. In comparison, the CCC
at SUNY Buffalo (UB) that we visited right before I began writing for
this page was very open and inviting. A group that open at RIT will
be a difficult (but hopefully reachable goal).
2/1/99 -- At our bible study, last week we also decided to send
daily devotions to each other through our bible study's distribution
list. There's just 7 of us on the list. So far, devotions about praise
in prayer, crucifixion with christ, and judging on appearances have
been posted by the guys. It's great to get these kind of messages in
your inbox each day! Church on Sunday was good too. 5 of us made it.
At this week's study we're having the pastor of our church come join
us so that we can talk both about the church's web site but also about
how things are going with Campus Crusade.
1/28/99 -- What a great Bible Study! The topic was prayer. We
all need to deepen our devotion to prayer... Hopefully, we will grow
in this area. The music was great! The guys played some really great
praise songs, and I'm excited at the idea that we could well have a
great little band at our first 'bigger' meeting.
1/27/99 -- We're just beginning (again). Currently, there are
5-7 of us in a weekly bible study on Thursdays. We're beginning to incorporate
music into our meetings, and are probably a month or so from actually
taking our group to a room outside of the apartment where we usually
meet. We're also about to start posting signs around campus to attract
some attention. In fact, you may have heard about this website through
one of our signs.
