Secular
(Sek-yuh-ler)
not pertaining to or connected with religion (as opposed to sacred).

In the world of Christian Music, we tend to characterize all music as either Christian Music or "Not" Christian Music. (Understandable, after all, everyone in the world is either me or "Not" me). But you wouldn't want to say "so and so is a Non-Christian artist"... It sounds like that person is somehow bad because the topics that they sing about are not necessarily things "of Christ". I don't buy that and neither do most of us, so we found a label "Secular" that explains the "other" stuff. No offense intended.

Sometimes things get interesting, like in the case of Amy Grant. She is definitely a Christian artist, but her most recent albums have been largely "Secular". I don't fault her for this... I would like to see (actually, continue to see) songs on her albums that address all areas of our lives INCLUDING faith in God. Go Amy!
